Jidenna Theodora Mobisson popularly known as (Jidenna) is an American Hip hop and R&B singer and songwriter born on 4th May 1985 at Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, America to Tama Mobisson a white accountant and Oliver Mobisson a Nigeria Igbo academic. He grew up partially in Nigeria with his father who is a professor of computer science at Enugu State University. They relocated back to the State when he was Six years old due to kidnap attempt.in 1995, the family moved to Norwood and Milton, both in Massachusetts, his father suffered stroke in 2000 which lead to his retirement as lecturer, in 2010 his father died from massive Heart attack.
Jidenna became a co-founder of the rap group called Black spadez in high school and started producing, writing and arranging. He released his first studio album with Black Spadez as their final project at Milton Academy. Jidenna was accepted to Harvard University and Stanford University and choose to attend Stanford University where he studied sound engineering but later switched his major to “ritualistic arts”. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts in 2008, afterwards he pushed his musical career while working full time as a teacher.
Jidenne breakthrough came with the release of his single “Classic Man” in February 2015 featuring GianArthur and also "Yoga" in March 31 2015 when he signed a record deal with Janelle Monae’s Wonderland Records. His song "Classic Man" was a major hit throughout the United States and debuted at No 49 on Billboard Hot RnB/Hip Hop Airplay chart. Classic Man was also nominated for Best Rap/Sung collaboration at the 58th Grammy Awards.
