Popular Nigerian Artiste Oritse Femi real name Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele was born on January 5, 1985. He was born in Ajegunle area of Lagos state but hails from itsekiri in Warri, Delta state. He was a member of the group called the Junglist boys comprising of Oritse Femi and Chi-Junglist. The group broke up in 2006 after a disagreement between the two and they both went their separate paths.
As a solo act, he released an album ‘Elewon’ and the hit single ‘flog politicians’ which was inspired by the level of corruption in the country at the time. He released a second solo album which he titled “wicked world” which contained the hit track “mercy of the lord”. According to him, he was inspired by his earlier love for material things and how his mum helped him to seek the face of God. He has seven albums to his name as a solo artist which includes “double wahala”, “Corporate miscreant”, “musical Taliban” among others.
In 2010 his remake of Fela Anikulapo “Double Wahala” showed that the singer wasn’t ready to go slow as the hit song was inspired by the suffering of the average man in Nigeria. The song won him the best Vocal Performance, at 2014 The Headies award. The song also won him four City People Entertainment Awards in four categories. The success of the hit song “double wahala” earned him the opportunity to do the remix with DB record boss D’banj. 2014 was a good year for the musician as he was able to carve a niche for himself in the Nigeria music industry and win the hearts of numerous fans which was evident in his award recognition and social media following.
