Nigeria oil mogul and entrepreneur Sir Emeka Offor was born in Kafanchan situated in Kaduna state in 1957. He hails from Oraifite in Anambra state. He is the son of the late Bennett Offor. He attended Abbot Boys Secondary School and Merchant of Light School in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State where he sat for the First School Leaving Certificate in 1977.
His journey to a successful business career started at an early age when he worked under his uncle who showed him the ropes on how to successfully run a business. After gathering enough experience from his uncle he moved on to establish his first business enterprise in the mid-90s called the Chrome Group. With steadfast doggedness, he was able to break into the Nigerian oil and gas sector. Chrome Group is an internationally recognized professional service provider for oil and gas firms within and outside Nigeria. With specialties in the maintenance of refineries, digital inspection and the construction of natural gas pipelines. The group also manages investment holdings in areas such as telecommunications, insurance, power, and logistics.
As a philanthropist, he is committed to contributing his quota to the development of the Nigerian child and Nigeria in general. He is an advocate of quality education which is evident in his many academic projects which include his donation of more than one million books, stationeries, computers and other learning facilities to educational institutions in the country. He also has a non-profit organization called the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) which is acclaimed as Africa’s largest donor of books and learning aids estimated to be worth 15 million dollars. The sole aim of SOEF is to assist in poverty alleviation and create a route for economic development with the hope of promoting the welfare of Nigerians, especially in fewer privileged regions.
He also contributed in developing his state of origin Anambra State by constructing the Oldest and largest market plaza in the state. Which was named as an attribute of his personality, He also operates a scholarship program which has provided assistance to students for over twenty years. The scholarship program is designed for students in tertiary institutions who have a desire for knowledge who is able to graduate with a first class degree from any institution in the country, beneficiaries are awarded a job opportunity and a brand new car.
